We're workwear geeks!

It's true!  We're a family run business based in Newbury, Berkshire which specialises in workwear tailoring and design.  Many moons ago Tim, our MD, discovered that Swedish brand Fristads created the most wonderfully high quality workwear and thought the UK’s self employed and small businesses should have it.  So we set up this website with the aim of allowing individuals and small business the opportunity to purchase what was, at that point, only available to big business and our Scandinavian chums...

These days we also offer Carhartt, Projob, V-Tech and Haix workwear and safety shoes as they’re designed and manufactured with the same attention to detail and quality.

So who are we?

Tim Sandford, MD and founder of the Work Clothing Group.

Tim has over 30 years experience in the design and supply of uniforms working for other companies and finally his own.  After sourcing the Fristads range for Vodafone engineers in the 90’s he finally got his act together and setup some websites bringing in...

Tom Sandford- Son, founder and partner of the Work Clothing Groups online activity.

Working alongside fellow newb, Barri Short, Tom has established www.performanceworkclothing.co.uk in its current guise; developing the range, design and presence of the company online.

We’re not the biggest!

We’ve been going since 1997 but we’re still a small company.  We always try to offer next day delivery in most sizes for our best selling work trousers, jackets and coveralls.  However, when you sell over 4000 products available in different sizes and colours it becomes difficult.  We want to offer as full a range as possible to help everyone find the right workwear for their unique job.  Thankfully Fristads, Carhartt, Haix et al have HUGE warehouses full of stock so you can expect to receive your order within 7-10 days of ordering (if we don’t have it here!)

We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to get better!

Sometimes, our website does funny things.  Sometimes our major suppliers run out of stock or increase prices without telling us. Occasionally we don’t get the right information to our customers on delivery times... and we hate that.

We’re doing everything we can to get up to scratch for the internet age.  We’ve reduced our inventory to focus sales, stock and purchasing power.  We’re investing time and money to integrate the web with our order management system (our management system is actually a human called “Mandy”)

We’re trying to improve our product and sizing information all the time and we offer a 21 day returns policy.  We would love to hear any suggestions you have for improvements, new products, anything really.  Please Tweet us @Perfworkcloth or email info@theworkclothinggroup.com with any suggestions

We’re trying to be as good (and green) as possible.

The textile industry is notoriously unfriendly to the environment.  We only work with Oeko-Tex certified suppliers.  We also have our own certificates too, ISO 14001 we have and hopefully we’ll have ISO 9001 soon!

Links - we have other web sites - http://www.creativeworkclothing.co.uk/ this is our new designer site  - the brain child of Caroline Southernwood of in-house designer leader and is perfect for those interetsed in colour trends, fashion forecasting and all things fluffy!
